The Leeward Islands form the western part of the Society Archipelago.

Navigation conditions
Ideal sailing conditions can be experienced from April through to the end of October with sunny weather and good easterly trade winds.Navigation in the leeward islands is easy, with relatively short distances between islands. Lagoon entrances are well marked with buoys. The area is not tidal, making for very easy sailing.
Normal Wind Direction
From April to June and September to October winds generally blow in an easterly direction between 10-15 knots. July and August can be windier periods and you may experience occasional heavy rainfall between November and March.
