The Aegean takes its name
from Aegeas, the father of Theseas, who flung himself into
the sea when he believed his son to have been killed in Crete.
The Cyclades is the central group of islands in the Aegean
so named because they more or less surround Delos, the ancient
center of trade and worship (kykloi - rings).

On the islands of Hydra, in the evening, the bars and restaurants of ths island come alive. Then sail to Spetsai an island dotted with traditional homes and pine forest.
Cyclades
The Cyclades are known throughout the world, with its white cube buildings, blue domed churches, turquoise waters, rugged landscapes and exciting nightlife. But also home to the strong wind called Meltemi. The sailing conditions here are the most favored and predictable in the world. The Meltemi winds, varying from 7 to 30 knots, begin in May, peak in July and then subside until September. In the northern Aegean, the Meltemi winds are northeasterly, shifting to a stronger northerly as one enters the central Aegean. You should be ready to adapt your trip as these strong winds can last for several days and make it very tough to return to your starting point.
