Phuket accommodates several national parks and can now take advantage of one of the most ecological policies of the country. Islands and nearby reefs and Ao Phang-Nga offer large possibilities of diving. There, you can eat the best Thai cuisine throughout the islands.
As Thailand's largest island, Phuket is the perfect base for a yacht charter. Its airport offers direct connections to many international destinations in addition to permanent flights from/to Bangkok

Phuket is conveniently located for boat rental close to Burma, Malaysia and the Indonesian Archipelago. The cruising ground is extensive, 250 NM of sailing pleasure stretching from Burma (Mergui Archipelago) to Malaysia (Malacca Straits). You will sail among the most beautiful islands in the world, many only accessible by yacht.
Phang Nga Bay
This classic Thai anchorage highlights the dramatic beauty of sea-mountains that rise vertically out of the turquoise waters defying gravity and belief. Numerous safe anchorages are available in the sheltered bay, small coves, intriguing caves and inland lakes.
Krabi
The crystal waters around the islands off Krabi are very popular, this is the reason why Krabi can be crowded. Phra Nang beach is particularly dramatic with its mountainous rock pillars that tower over creating one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Phi Phi Islands
These islands are among the most spectacular of Thailand with their secluded bays and white sandy beaches. Enjoy the restaurants, club and live entertainment offered on the island.
Langkawi
With its 100 surrounding islands Langkawi is a paradise that longs to be discovered. If you are looking for an idyllic isolated experience these are the perfect cruising grounds for you. A one-way from Phuket requires 10 days.

Diving
The water surrounding the island is filled with a wonderful diversity of marine life, including coral and has a variety of old shipwrecks for diving enthusiasts to discover. Lots of boats equipped with scuba diving equipment. Lots of diving centers around the Islands.

Thai Bath (Approx 1 USD = 50 THB). US Dollars is used. Major credit cards may be accepted in hotels, restaurants and some shops. There are many places throughout the sailing areas to exchange money from cash, Travellers Cheques and Major Credit Cards.

Climate
Tropical climate with year round sailing. No Cyclones, typhoons or extreme weather fronts. Nice weather all year round for boat rental.
The best season (from a climatic point of view) is situated between November and April, when it rains the least and when it is not too hot. Weather is pleasant in the South while the rest of the country is oppressed by heat (between April and June) and the North is better from mid-November to February.

Boat rental seasons
Nov-April: 8/15 knots of NE winds, virtually without any rain (March & April: the highest temperatures, December & January: the lowest temperatures).
May: Intermonsoon with scattered showers.
June-Sept: 10/18 knots of SW winds with occasional, localized rain.
Oct: Intermonsoon with scattered showers.
Average daily temperature: 25/32°C.
Water temperature: 26/29°C.

Regattas
King's Cup: held annually each December under the Patronage of the King of Thailand. First Regatta was held in 1987 and the number of participating boats has grown each year. Now the top Regatta on the Asia Racing Circuit.
QBE Phang bay Regatta: held annually over Chinese New Year, is Phuket's newest Regatta. Now it is fast gaining a reputation as the most fun Regatta in Asia.
