Martinique
Sailing vacation & boat rental

Discovered in 1494 by Christopher Columbus, Martinique is the largest island in The Windwards. It has a distinct Franco Caribbean ambience with an excellent cuisine, designer shopping and friendly people. It’s the perfect island from which to start and finish your charter. From St. Pierre in the North West visit the famous volcano of Mount Pele which last erupted in 1902. Fort de France, the island's commercial centre and principal city is well worth a visit, while Anse D'Arlet is a popular, photogenic anchorage.

Marina & starting point
Le Marin is just a short ride from the airport. From here we offer a range of bareboats between 35ft and 51ft and crewed boat up to 90ft.The marina is the heart of Martinique’s yachting industry, set at the end of a beautiful lagoon. Le Marin boasts all the facilities you could wish for: well-stocked chandleries, a supermarket for provisions and a variety of restaurants. You will find excellent French Creole cuisines throughout Martinique. Seafood includes fresh local crab, lobster and Conch, a large shellfish served from a barbecue or cooked in a delicious spicy sauce. Martinique rum is well known in the Caribbean and strongly recommended as the sun goes down - though beware - it is much more potent than its flavour suggests!

Bareboat Exp. Level
From 1 - easy to 5 - very experienced: 4. We could provide a skipper service for your first day's sail from our base to familiarise the crew with the boat.

Diving
The water surrounding the island is filled with a wonderful diversity of marine life, including coral and has a variety of old shipwrecks for diving enthusiasts to discover. Lots of diving centers around the Islands.

Airport
Lamentin International Airport, more than 4 direct daily flights from Paris, weekly from USA via Miami or Haiti.

Currency
US Dollars and € Euro are used. Major credit cards may be accepted in hotels, restaurants and some shops. There are many places throughout the sailing areas to exchange money from cash, Travellers Cheques and Major Credit Cards.
